Silk Hair Boutique is a boutique independent salon located in the Mid Sussex town of Haywards Heath.
Silk was started in 2011 by Karen Truscott who as a trained hairdresser in the town for over 30 years finally achieved her dream of becoming a salon owner and having the salon she had always dreamed of working in herself.

The philosophy of Silk is to take amazing people and turn them into fantastic hairdressers. People who are not only brilliant at cutting, colouring and styling hair, but also understand how important it is for the client to feel totally at ease from the moment they enter the salon.

We try to maintain a consistent team, most of which have trained and stayed with the salon, enabling clients to get to know the team as a whole and not just their individual stylist.

In my career as a salon owner, I have had the privilege of combining my passion for hairdressing with my entrepreneurial spirit. Starting as a hairstylist, I quickly realised my desire to create a space where clients could receive exceptional services in a welcoming and stylish environment. Through hard work and determination, I established my own salon, focusing on providing top-notch customer experiences and staying ahead of industry trends. As a salon owner, I have had the opportunity to lead and inspire a talented team of hairstylists, fostering a collaborative and creative atmosphere. Ensuring that my salon offers a wide range of services, I have also cultivated relationships with reputable product suppliers and kept up-to-date with the latest advancements in haircare technology. Being a salon owner has allowed me to not only express my artistic vision but also create a space that celebrates individuality and enhances the confidence of each client who walks through our doors.

Hi, my name is Jade and I am the salon manager, ensuring that everything runs smoothly day to day while supporting both the team and clients. I am always open to any question and here to help in any way I can. I am a certified hairdresser and colourist. Since completing my training in 2014 in both women’s and men’s hair, I have continued to invest in advanced education to refine my cutting and colouring skills and further grow my passion for hairdressing. I take pride in delivering exceptional service with genuine care, ensuring every client feels safe, confident, and comfortable in my chair. With a warm and friendly approach, I strive to create a relaxing experience from the moment you arrive. I am committed to maintaining the health of your hair while achieving beautiful, long-lasting results. I love sharing practical tips and advice to help your hair stay vibrant and salon-fresh between visits. I also stay up to date with the latest techniques and trends in colour, cutting, and treatments, so whether you’re after a soft, sun-kissed glow or a full transformation, I will tailor each look to suit you perfectly. My name is Kate and I’ve been in the hairdressing industry for over 25 years, working in salons and also for myself. Have worked with many different product brands and suppliers. Although I love all aspects of hairdressing my main passion is colouring and cutting, to see that total transformation is what it is all about for me. I have worked in the hair industry for so many years now because I love that client stylist relationship and how you get to know someone and look after their hair accordingly.

SALON TRAINEE

Izzy

I am a salon trainee, ready to qualify, with a strong focus on colours and blowdries. I’m currently building my skills in cutting and advanced colour techniques like highlights and balayage. I love seeing my clients leave the chair happy and confident with their looks.

FAIRNESS AND AWARENESS POLICY

Like many professionals in the industry, our stylists work on a commission basis. Unfortunately, missed appointments can significantly impact their income — with each stylist losing up to £1,153 annually due to no-shows. We believe no one should lose earnings this way.

No-shows also affect the salon as a whole, resulting in an estimated £20,599 in lost revenue each year.

To help us protect our team and continue offering the best service to all clients, we kindly ask for your support with the following:

We require a minimum of 48 hours’ notice for any cancellations or rescheduling. This allows us to offer your appointment time to another client.
All bookings require a 50% non-refundable deposit at the time of booking.
Deposits will only be refunded if at least 48 hours’ notice is provided.
No-shows will be charged 100% of the appointment cost. However, 50% of this charge can be redeemed against retail products in-salon.
